STABILS

THE INNOVATIVE STEEL FIBRE FROM BILSTEIN

The new generation of steel fibers

STABILS - INNOVATIVE STEEL FIBER FROM BILSTEIN

BILSTEIN STEEL FIBER GmbH has developed an innovative production process with which it is manufacturing a groundbreaking generation of steel fibers.

The straight, high-strength steel fiber made of quenched and tempered strip material is uncomplicated to mix into the concrete and distribute evenly. With technologies from the BILSTEIN GROUP, concrete can be used more sustainably and in a way that conserves resources for existing as well as new applications. The tests conducted with the STABILS steel fibre to date and the assessments of experts from universities and testing laboratories confirm its excellent properties.

Product characteristics

  • The STABILS steel fiber is made longitudinally from a steel strip
  • Currently available fiber length 60 mm in strength classes 2000 MPa
  • The STABILS fiber types are certified according to CE Standards
  • Development of application-specific fiber designs possible.

Advantages of STABILS

  • Steel fiber concrete with STABILS reduces the statically required reinforcement according to the DAfStb guideline for steel fiber concrete, June 2021 edition, supplement to DIN 1045, parts 1 to 3 and DIN EN 206-1; introduced by the building authorities in all German states in 2012. Depending on the requirements of the concrete component, a complete replacement of conventional steel reinforcement is also possible.
  • When reinforcing concrete components with STABILS, a minimum concrete cover can be dispensed with. The thinner components that can be achieved in this way result in a reduction in weight and thus in CO2 savings.
  • STABILS steel fibers have an optimum activatable effective length and allow a saving in the amount added compared to conventional steel fibers.
  • The straight fiber distributes well in the concrete even with combined reinforcement. Fiber balling is reduced.
  • STABILS fiber-reinforced concrete can also be pumped without complications at 80 kg/m³ Bilstein fibers. Larger quantities are also possible in individual cases in consultation with our STABILS application advice.
  • The principle of positive locking instead of frictional locking (L1/L2 values) ensures high performance. The concrete compaction properties improve compared to conventional steel fiber concretes.
  • The BILSTEIN GROUP many years of expertise in materials and process engineering allow the STABILS steel fiber to be adapted to specific application properties, for example with regard to the length of the fiber, the design of the anchor nodes or the adjustment of the strength and elongation of the fiber material.
  • Filigree concrete components or even demanding component geometries can be effectively reinforced with STABILS steel fibers.
  • STABILS steel fibers contribute significantly to reducing the shrinkage cracking properties of the finished concrete. Ductility (deformability under load) increases compared to classically reinforced concrete.

Mode of action of the STABILS fiber

With the innovative STABILS fiber, force is transmitted by means of a sliding form closure between the fiber and the concrete. Competitor fibers with cranked end anchors achieve transmission by frictional engagement and bending work.

All other steel fibers with cranked end anchors offered on the market achieve transmission by means of frictional engagement and bending.

Other steel fibers available on the market with bent or cranked end anchors achieve transmission by means of frictional engagement and bending work.

Most steel fibers available on the market with cranked end anchors achieve transmission by means of frictional engagement and bending work. However, there are exceptions to the rule: when the steel fibers can no longer transmit or absorb sufficient forces due to friction and bending work. In this article you will learn why STABILS steel fibers with high-performance anchors are so efficient for complex requirements.
